Slower Than the Scent of a Flower is the fourth volume of the valuable series The Sajjadi Epic, written by Seyyed Mehdi Shojaei. The three preceding volumes of this series are, respectively, You in Place of Everyone, If Grief Raises an Army, and Nothing but the Tale of the Beloved. As the title of the series suggests, The Sajjadi Epic is devoted to the life and conduct of Imam Sajjad (peace be upon him); however, this collection differs markedly from other works of its kind.

While presenting a documented account of events from the turbulent period of Imam Sajjad’s life, The Sajjadi Epic—alongside concise and detailed references to his life and conduct, and the narration of lesser-known miracles attributed to him—introduces the reader to truths that had previously remained hidden within the pages of historical and religious books and may well have been consigned to oblivion.
