And Once Again, the Journey is a Persian novel by Naser Yousefi in the field of children’s and young adult literature. It was published by Ofoq Publishing in late 2016 and reached its sixth edition by 2020. The novel is approximately four hundred pages long and was selected by the Cultural Association of Children’s Book Publishers and shortlisted for the White Hoopoe Award.
The novel narrates the story of three adolescents who, according to an ancient custom of their city, each embark on a long journey and encounter various events along the way. One of them enters a city where obedient citizens and controlling laws suppress any form of freedom of action and thought. Another travels with gypsies and comes to realize that life can be lived in many different ways. The third reaches a garden, where certain events—including the warm and gentle behavior of an old man who spends his days there—cause him to remain at his very first destination.
Among the central themes of the story are life in a uniform, homogeneous society versus life in a diverse one, as well as an emphasis on wisdom and learning through experience.
