Namira is a novel by Sadegh Kermiyar whose title reflects the enduring and unforgettable truth of the events of Karbala, and the immortal souls of those who were martyred in the path of God and truth. The author, after extensive research on the events leading up to Ashura, created a historically grounded setting and wove a fictional narrative within it. Initially, Kermiyar drafted this work as a screenplay, but fate led to the manuscript reaching a publisher through his friends. With the support of Nistan Publishing, it was rewritten and released as a book for readers.

The story takes place before the events of Ashura and features many characters. Among them, the two central figures are young lovers, Rabi’ and Salimeh, whose conversations explore the legitimacy of Imam Husayn (peace be upon him) and the tyranny of Yazid ibn Mu’awiya. Through the narrative, the author examines the motives of the people of Kufa in inviting Imam Husayn (peace be upon him). Kermiyar argues that their support was neither rooted in justice nor in standing against oppression, which led to the fragility of their pledges and their eventual betrayal of the oppressed Imam. He contends that the Kufans acted out of self-interest and resentment toward the Umayyad dynasty; when bribery and threats appeared, they easily abandoned their stance.

The novel contrasts the steadfast companions of the Imam, who remained loyal despite being few in number, with the fickle individuals whose allegiance was superficial and motivated by wealth or personal gain. Through this lens, Namira highlights the distinction between true dedication to justice and opportunistic loyalty.
