The Curly-Haired Girl
Author: Majid Rasti
Publisher: Soroush Publication
The Curly-Haired Girl, written by Majid Rasti, is a delightful and imaginative story about a little girl with curly hair who refuses to comb her beautiful, twisting locks—until her hair grows wild as a forest and funny adventures begin. The story follows a little girl with curly hair who doesn’t comb it, and gradually her curls turn into a forest. Two birds named Chik-Chik and Chak-Chak settle in her hair forest. The next day, a frog joins them, and on the third day, a comb—personified as a little helper—arrives in the tangled forest and wonders: “What kind of forest is this with no trees and no fresh air?” Determined to fix everything, the comb starts tidying the girl’s hair…
Through this whimsical and imaginative adventure, the story encourages creativity and imagination in elementary-aged children, helping them playfully approach everyday situations. Besides being entertaining, the book also has an educational aspect: it gently teaches children that neglecting personal hygiene and appearance may prevent them from looking neat and can even affect their happiness.
A passage from The Curly-Haired Girl:
The comb carefully wet and combed the wild hair, a little here, a little there. Then it listened for a sound—but it didn’t hear Chik-Chak or the little frog; they had left! The curly-haired girl went to the mirror and looked at her combed hair. She slowly ran her hand through it. She saw the comb in her hair and laughed. The comb jumped up from her head. The girl was happy looking at herself in the mirror!
