Flames roared skyward from the heart of the storm-tossed sea, and the ship was uncontrollably dragged forward by the turbulent waves. In the darkness, the captain kept his eyes fixed on what lay ahead. The firelight, like crimson waves, tore through the black heart of the night. The captain’s anxious face glowed red in the flickering light of the flames. He tore his gaze away from the front and, with worry, moved toward the rear of the ship. He had not taken more than a few steps when he found himself surrounded by the sailors. The sailors shouted in panic:
“Captain, we are exhausted from trying to control the ship!”
The captain cried out in anger:
“No! Don’t despair! Go back to your duties! Go!”
